About...........................
Clearly, this is not me by myself. It is myself with two of my favourite people- my lovely daughters (I'm the old cheese on the far left.) We are behaving badly at The Brisbane Museum.
I have loved books, reading and writing for as long as I can remember (and as I'm pretty old, that's a loooong time.) I also love
art, music, fashion and design, being outside in the garden or at the beach, goooood coffee (gooood cake is an added bonus) cooking, eating, having fun and laughing.
I have always wanted to be an author but as my life has been pretty busy, I just wrote a lot and shoved it under the bed or in the cupboard until about twelve years ago when I began writing articles for magazines. These were all non-fiction articles about all sorts of things like women's health and holistic healing and house decoration( believe it or not!)
My first published book was a 300 plus page non- fiction book called "Moon Rites" for women. It came out in 2002.
But my real writing love is fiction, possibly because when you write fiction anything is possible- any event, any world, any potential storyline- can happen and I am the one who creates it. (Did I mention that I'm also a megolomaniac control-freak?LOL) . I was going to say that there's less research than writing a non-fiction book but that's not totally true. There's still lots of research but it's way more fun
- like, for example my character in my current book loves pistachio gelato
(co-incidentally, so do I!) and she overdoes it and makes herself sick. So, -totally in the interest of science you understand- I had to eat as much pistachio gelato as I could to see how much it takes to feel sick. You see? (and in case you're wondering, it looks like I can eat pistachio gelato for ever and not get sick so I had to invent a limit.
But hey, I really tried to be accurate!)
My current passion is writing what is known as "Young Adult Fiction". Personally I'd be more inclined to call it "Young Adult Chick-Lit ".
Why?
Well, if you want to know more about Chick-Lit you can click here and I'll tell you on my "Young Adult Chick Lit ? WTH is That?" page.
However to continue for the rest of you- as of today I have 2 published YA books, the Letterbook 1 "Amy's Secret" and Letterbook 2 "Passion For Fashion" both published by ABC Books (an Imprint of Harper Collins).
I'm working on the next Letterbook and have just finished a book for slightly older age group than the letterbooks (13-16 ish).
Life is good!
