About...........................

Clearly, this is not me by myself. It is myself with two of my favourite people- my lovely daughters (I'm the old cheese on the far left.) We are photographing ourselves with bears and tigers at The Brisbane Museum- a favourite place.

I have loved books, reading and writing for as long as I can remember (and as I'm pretty old, that's a loooong time.) I'm so old, in fact that this is me in between my Mum and Dad a loooong time ago!

and the rest.............

The Gabba Vintage Warehouse in Brisbane another favourite place.
I also love
art, music, fashion and design, collecting old stuff and giving it a new life, being outside in the garden or at the beach, goooood coffee (gooood cake is an added bonus) cooking, eating, having fun and laughing. Especially laughing.

I had always wanted and planned to be an author, even when I was a whippersnapper, but as my life got pretty busy, I just wrote a lot and shoved it under the bed or in the cupboard- until about twelve years ago when I began writing articles for magazines. These were all non-fiction articles about all sorts of things like women's health and holistic healing and even home design and decoration.
My first published book was a 300 plus page non- fiction book called "Moon Rites" for women. It came out in 2002.
But my real writing love is fiction, possibly because when you write fiction anything is possible- any event, any world, any potential storyline- can happen and I am the one who creates it.
(Did I mention that I'm also a control-freak? LOL) . I was also going to say that there's less research than writing a non-fiction book but that's not totally true. There's still lots of research but it's way more fun!
To give you an example, the main character in my current book loves pistachio gelato.
(co-incidentally, so do I!) In one scene, she overdoes it and makes herself sick. So -totally in the interest of science you understand- I had to eat as much pistachio gelato as I could to see how much it takes to make a person to feel sick. You see? (
and in case you're wondering, sadly it looks like I can eat pistachio gelato for ever and not get sick so I had to invent a limit for her.
But hey, I really tried to be accurate!
)
My current passion is writing what is known as "Young Adult Fiction".
I love all types of Young Adult, Middle Grade and Childrens' books but my favourite kind to write is what some people call "Chick- lit." Why?
Well, if you want to know more about Chick-Lit  you can click
here and I'll tell you on my " Chick Lit ? WTH is That?" page.
However to continue for the rest of you- as of today I have 2 published Middle Grade YA books, the Letterbook 1 "Amy's Secret" and Letterbook 2 "Passion For Fashion" both published by ABC Books (an Imprint of Harper Collins).
In 2010 "Amy's Secret" was also published in Norway and Sweden which of course was awesomely exciting.
I'm working on the next Letterbook and have just finished a picture book and book for slightly older age group than the Letterbooks ( 14-17 ish).

Life is good!
